# Catena Docs > Catena is a governance and banking platform for AI agents. Policies govern what each agent can do. People approve the actions that policies require. Every page is available as Markdown: add `.md` to its URL. The home page is https://docs.catena.com/index.md. All pages in one file: https://docs.catena.com/llms-full.txt. After you install the CLI, `catena guide` prints the operating guide for the installed version; follow it where it differs from these pages. ## Documentation ### Get started - [Catena documentation](https://docs.catena.com/index.md): Catena is a governance and banking platform for AI agents. Policies decide what each agent can do, and people approve the actions that policies require. - [Quickstart](https://docs.catena.com/quickstart.md): Give your agent one prompt, approve it into your sandbox, and have it make a test payment that you'll see in the console. - [How Catena works](https://docs.catena.com/concepts.md): Definitions of organizations, agents, policies, intents, approvals, accounts, and counterparties, and how each of them relates to the others. - [Sandbox](https://docs.catena.com/sandbox.md): A separate organization that runs on test money, where you can connect an agent, write a policy, and test payments before you move real money. - [Test in the sandbox](https://docs.catena.com/test-in-sandbox.md): The policy rules and requests that produce each payment outcome on test money, and what your agent will see for each one. ### Connect an agent - [Connect an agent](https://docs.catena.com/connect.md): Connect an agent to Catena with the CLI, an MCP connector, or a secret key, depending on where the agent runs. - [Link with the CLI](https://docs.catena.com/connect/cli.md): Link a new or existing agent that runs in a terminal, on your own machine or a headless host, with catena link. - [Link with the MCP](https://docs.catena.com/connect/mcp.md): Apps with custom connectors, such as Claude and ChatGPT, can act as a Catena agent through our remote MCP server. - [Link with secret keys](https://docs.catena.com/connect/secret-keys.md): A secret key lets an agent act in Catena from hosts where catena link cannot store a credential, such as CI jobs, cloud sandboxes, and deployed services. - [Credential storage](https://docs.catena.com/connect/credentials.md): Where the CLI keeps an agent's signing key on each kind of host, and which credential mode to use when there's no keychain. ### Configure - [Create and fund accounts](https://docs.catena.com/accounts.md): Open an account, fund it with stablecoins or a bank transfer, read its balances, and send or transfer from it in live and sandbox organizations. - [Set policies](https://docs.catena.com/policies.md): Decide what each agent can do with its policy, from the accounts it can read and the counterparties it can pay to its spending rules and temporary overrides. - [Manage counterparties and vendors](https://docs.catena.com/counterparties.md): Add the people and businesses you pay, request their payment details, and find the rail ID your agent sends to. - [Team and roles](https://docs.catena.com/team.md): The three roles in a Catena organization, what each one can do, and how operators and admins divide the work. - [Get USD access](https://docs.catena.com/fiat-access.md): Verify your organization as a business or as an individual so that it can send and receive USD by ACH and wires. ### Operate - [Handle approvals](https://docs.catena.com/approvals.md): Learn what goes to the approvals queue, who can approve, when requests expire, and what happens between an approval and a completed payment. - [Manage notifications](https://docs.catena.com/notifications.md): Choose how Catena notifies you about transactions, approval requests, and agents, by email or Slack direct message. - [Intents and retries](https://docs.catena.com/intents.md): Learn how an intent moves through its statuses and resolutions, which fields explain its result, and how to retry safely with idempotency keys. - [Analytics and reporting](https://docs.catena.com/reporting.md): Review your agents' activity in the console, export reports of agent payments and exceptions as CSV, and read transactions from the CLI. - [On- and off-ramp stablecoins](https://docs.catena.com/on-and-off-ramps.md): Receive USD by bank transfer as USDC, and pay bank accounts in USD from your account's USDC. - [Use x402 and MPP](https://docs.catena.com/x402-and-mpp.md): Let your agent pay HTTP 402 endpoints in USDC with x402 or the Machine Payments Protocol, under the same policy as any other payment. - [Send wires and ACH](https://docs.catena.com/wires-and-ach.md): Pay US bank accounts by ACH or wires, with the bank details, fees, timing, memos, and statuses for each. ### Resources - [Troubleshooting](https://docs.catena.com/troubleshooting.md): The errors you may run into while linking, signing, and sending payments, with the cause of each and what to do about it. - [Security](https://docs.catena.com/security.md): How Catena handles custody of your funds, agent signing keys, policy enforcement, revocation, and vulnerability reports. - [Changelog](https://docs.catena.com/changelog.md): The changes to the Catena console, API, CLI, and SDK that you'll notice, with the newest first. ## Solutions - [Solutions](https://docs.catena.com/solutions.md): Step-by-step recipes for common agent tasks, and setup guides for the tools your agents run in. ### Recipes - [Pay a vendor invoice](https://docs.catena.com/recipes/pay-a-vendor-invoice.md): Your agent pays a vendor invoice by ACH, and any invoice at or above your approval threshold will wait for an admin. - [Pay for an API call](https://docs.catena.com/recipes/pay-for-an-api-call.md): Your agent pays an x402 endpoint in USDC from a wallet account, and it won't pay more than the price ceiling you set. - [Raise a limit for one task](https://docs.catena.com/recipes/raise-a-limit.md): When a single limit blocks a task, your agent can ask an admin to raise it for a while, and then finish the task once the admin approves. ### Integrations - [Claude Code](https://docs.catena.com/integrations/claude-code.md): Connect Claude Code to Catena with the CLI, and it will read accounts and make payments under the agent's policy. - [Codex](https://docs.catena.com/integrations/codex.md): Connect the Codex CLI to Catena with catena link, or connect Codex cloud tasks with a secret key. - [Claude (desktop and web)](https://docs.catena.com/integrations/claude-app.md): Add Catena to the Claude app as a custom connector, and Claude will read accounts and submit payments for an admin to approve. - [ChatGPT](https://docs.catena.com/integrations/chatgpt.md): Add Catena to ChatGPT as a custom plugin in developer mode, and ChatGPT will read accounts and submit payments for an admin to approve. - [Cloud coding agents](https://docs.catena.com/integrations/cloud-agents.md): Connect Claude, Codex, and Cursor cloud agents and Copilot's coding agent to Catena with a secret key that the platform injects into each sandbox. - [Meta Muse](https://docs.catena.com/integrations/meta-muse.md): Connect a Meta Muse agent to Catena with the CLI on its Linux computer, where the CLI will store the key without a keychain. ## API & SDK reference ### Agent API -
